The road passes through aspen groves and crosses many small streams. It travels through BLM, National Forest and private land. Please respect the rights of private property owners by staying on the roads.
This road is impassable when wet, so do not drive it if it looks like it might rain or has rained recently. This road is accessible to 2WD vehicles until the stream crossing at Middle Thompson Creek. Here you need a high clearance 4WD vehicle for the crossing and the roads beyond. Road #306 will offer access to Mid Thompson, the South Branch of Mid Thompson, Dexter Park and Lake Ridge Lake trails. Road #305 lends access to South Thompson trail after the Parsnip Flat area. South Thompson trail will turn into the Braderich Creek trail leading south towards the town of Redstone.
Directions: From Carbondale take road #108 past the stoplight heading west about a mile then over a bridge crossing the Roaring Fork River. Follow road #108 for 7.5 miles and turn left onto road #305. After about 4 miles there is a fork in the road. To the right is road #306, and road #305 is to the left and continues south for approximately another 5 miles.
